Decisions & Roadblocks

First, before we even talk about all of the things going on over here, please remember to keep the Japanese people as well as all affected by the recent Tsunami in prayer. We are out of reach of the waves, much further south. Airports into Japan are closed, so let’s agree the aid and rescue needed can get there quick.

Those of you who follow us around the world ministering the Gospel already know that we have been preparing and researching for an extended Indian mission. We traveled to Malaysia a few days ago to get the needed visas for our visit into India with plans to hope straight from here to the country. The entire time something didn’t feel exactly right, but in prayer we were unable to identify it. Well, when we arrived we discovered, in contrast to all of our research, that Malaysia was no longer issuing the needed visa to get into India. The have ceased this service to non-Malaysians on a Tourist visa. We were stopped at the door and told it is best to save our $200 because it will be rejected. New policy; the result of idiots extremist that hate humanity. Their advice, return to the U.S. and get a new visa or head back north to Bangkok.

Of course, this bothers us. We have the next month planned. This is a MAJOR roadblock. We have budgeted for a certain route and to change cost more, everyday in this city cost more, and with every tick of the clock our time get shorter as we have to be in the states for a few months beginning in June (our brother is getting married).

Since that moment we’ve been back in the room, seeking God’s direction. We have discovered a few alternative routes, one through Sri Lanka, but are unsure as of the moment if they should be taken. Should we go and chance getting the visa or head to the states and reschedule our Indian trip to mid-July? The rest of the year is looking quite busy, with a proposed mission scouting trip over the Sahara, months in West Africa, a scouting mission to Nepal, pre-Christmas outreach in Thailand, and now perhaps a month of two in India. We wanted to spend Christmas 2011 with our families, as Darlene has not been with her family for Christmas in four years, but this will make it difficult.

Please keep us in prayer as we make these very important decisions. We want nothing more than be exactly where God wants us, and nowhere else. God bless you guys and thanks for everything! Our job is to plant churches that will evangelize and disciple the world. Together, we can do it!

P.S. Sorry for any typos. This is a very QUICK update.
